Exhibition of works by the artist Dimitris Ameladiotis at the Poeme art space in Nafplio, as part of the artist presentation program ‘’Icebergs’’. 6 - 28 June 2026

On Saturday 6 June, the exhibition of works by the artist Dimitris Ameladiotis will be inaugurated.

 

The exhibition space of the workshop is transformed into a Cabinet des curiosités curated by the artist himself and the curator of the program Dimitris Papachristos.

 

The body of work presented represents a large part of the artist’s overall career, including sculptures, constructions and wall works, while the room will contain raw materials where the public will be able to create their own sculptural assemblages inspired by his work.

 

Parallel activities

 

Sunday 7/6, 6-8.30pm

 

A sculpture making workshop using the assemblage technique for adults will be held, followed by a participatory walking performance in the city of Nafplio by the artist.

 

Tuesday 9/6 6.30-8.00pm

 

a children's sculpture and drama workshop will be held in collaboration with theater teacher Rita Zikidou.

*What is Icebergs?

 

It is an interdisciplinary program presenting contemporary visual arts.

 

Each month, the work of an artist is presented, within the Workshop Convention.

 

In this context, the artist Dimitris Papachristos, in collaboration with the guests and through soft curating practices, jointly design and propose alternative approaches to the artistic experience.

 

The program includes hands-on workshops, talks, readings, guided tours, walks, as well as interdisciplinary approaches that enable the audience to become an active part of the process and to enrich through their presence the meanings produced by this interaction.

 

This is an attempt to map and explore the “backstage” of the Work of Art, on the one hand as an area through which what vision cannot grasp can be conquered and, on the other hand, as a place of production of new capacities, which in turn can contribute to the creation of new relationships between the artistic subject and the institution of art.

 

The aim of the program is to create a new dynamic relationship between the creator, the work, the viewer, the production and presentation space that leads to the development of an open, inclusive dialogue, escaping the stereotypical gaze contact with the art object.

 

Through different ways of experiencing the artistic experience, participants are given the opportunity to re-consider art and the broader cultural field.
