Children's Games

Games of the World'' is based on the work '' Children's Games '' by the Belgian artist Francis Alys, which records in video and photo form various games played by children around the world. Focusing on children's creativity and ingenuity, the work highlights in a paradoxical way the relationship between children's play and politics, the economy and social reality, emphasizing the need for it to exist as a common point of contact and unity for people. On the occasion of the work of the Belgian artist, we designed and propose a theater-pedagogical play workshop . The goal of the program is for children to come into contact with different cultures, to understand the importance of play in the learning process, to delve into social issues and to cultivate their social skills. Through ingenuity and spontaneous creation, participants are invited to take on new roles, to understand the concept of empathy and to share the joy of play.

The program will be implemented on Sunday, June 15th at 7:00 pm , in the outdoor area between the OSE Theater and the Stathmos cafeteria. By choosing games from all over the world and using theatrical storytelling and visual arts as a vehicle, children will learn about the cultures of various peoples through experiential learning and play. Starting from Africa and the Congo, children will learn about the dance imitation game ''Nzango'' and then travel to Mexico City where we will play with light and the game ''Espejos''. Fun and teasing will find their place in the next trip to Afghanistan and the game ''Wolf & Lamp'' while ''Chalk'' played in England will teach us how to create frameworks of inclusion through spontaneous play.
